Launch of official website of Union Territory of Ladakh by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor

Leh, Ladakh: Today, Ladakh came into existence as a Union Territory.
Hon’ble Shri Radha Krishna Mathur today assumed the charge as the 1st Lieutenant Governor
of newly formed Union Territory of Ladakh. Hon’ble the Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir
High Court, Justice Geeta Mittal administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sh. Mathur
at Sindhu Sanskriti Kendra, Leh.
The Commissioner Secretary, Sh. Rigzin Samphel, IAS read out the warrant of appointment
issued by the Hon’ble President of India Shri Ram Nath Govind. After the passage of the
Jammu & Kashmir Re-organization Act in both the houses of the Parliament, on August 5,
2019, Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir were declared Union Territories by The Union Government.
Hon’ble CEC, LAHDC, Leh Shri Gyal P. Wangyal, Hon’ble CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Shri
Feroz Ahmad Khan, Hon’ble Dy. Chairman LAHDC, Leh and Senior officers from
Administration, Judiciary, Army and Para-military forces were present on the historic
occasion.
Later on, the Lieutenant Governor chaired an introductory meeting of the Secretaries,
Directors and District Officers in the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner’s office. Apart
from his message of future endeavour to the officers in development of Ladakh for reshaping a
new Ladakh he also launched the official website of the Union Territory of Ladakh
URL: https://ladakh.nic.in for dissemination of information to the citizens.
This website was designed, developed, hosted and launched by National Informatics Centre
(NIC) on SwaaS platform. The development of website was initiated by DIO NIC Leh with
involvement of officers of NIC Leh & Kargil under the guidance of Mrs. Padmavathi
Viswanathan, Deputy Director General & State Coordinator for NIC J&K, Sh. Abhay Kumar,
State Informatics Officer, NIC J&K, with the active technical support of SwaaS team headed
by Mrs. Alka Mishra, Deputy Director General, NIC HQ, Delhi.
