    State Coordinator’s first meeting with NIC Ladakh-UT officials

    DDG & State Coordinator, Dr. Susheel Kumar had a meeting over VC with NIC Ladakh officials on Wednesday, the 2nd August 2023. He reviewed overall functioning of the NIC UT Ladakh Unit for betterment in delivery of services as well as for better coordination with that of J&K State unit and with Delhi Hq. It is the first formal review by the State Coordinator with NIC Ladakh officials after joining of the full-fledged SIO-Ladakh, in May 2023.
    At the outset, SIO NIC Ladakh-UT, Sh. Mohd Rouf Wani welcomed the State Coordinator, and the meeting carried forwarded with a brief introduction & interaction with individual NIC Ladakh officials including DIOs of Kargil and Leh. The Coordinator listened to each official patiently, and suggested value-additions wherever required. Going forward, SIO Ladakh presented the working of NIC Ladakh including in-house development of applications to promote tourism and delivery of services to the people of Ladakh and roll-outs of other National level applications like RTI, e-Gazette, eSAM etc., with the help of respective NIC state units.

    While reviewing of the in-house application development, the State Coordinator, suggested for the use of open-source technology tools including PostgreSql & MySql etc uniformly in all applications, it will be helpful in easy hosting, integration and maintenance of databases locally. Besides that, he also suggested for minimum required validations, authentications and authorization in the applications specially where financial transactions are taken place. He also suggested for GIGW compliance of applications along with minimum required 3rd party security auditing certification for the safety of the digital assets. He also directed to consider the efficient use of Ladakh DNS along with various 4th level domains registered for Ladakh across different datacentres.
    Referring to hosting space crises, the coordinator suggested to explore use of the services by the AWS and RailTel also through UT-Ladakh/ J&K administration. He further suggested that shared hosting of application/ database could be explored in NIC data centres including state data centre at Jammu. In view of the recent visit of JS, Meity at Ladakh and his Record of Discussions for the technical manpower, the coordinator suggested to approach UT administration for hiring technical manpower from the local college/ university/ Institutions, by the time regular manpower deployed centrally. The hired resources can be groomed to desired level over the period.
    The other pending matters of NIC Ladakh UT pertains to general administration with SO-J&K State unit, procurement of Desktops, Laptops, Vehicle & Driver, MTS etc from NIC Hqrs. were also discussed to expedite and completion as soon as possible.
    The meeting ended with thanks to the chair for sparing his valuable time to review, explore, encouraging and guiding the NIC team of Ladakh UT.
